Poetry paintings

These are from a new series of paintings based on poetry by Rob Clucas-Tomlinson, (with the exception of the tribute to Emile). Painted in acrylic on bits of wood I found here and there, and varnished in shellac. To be in a show coming soon to Stroud…

Meg: A Sketch in Acrylic

This sketch was part of the preparatory work for a portrait of Meg made last year. It’s been finished a little so the family can have it. I delivered it to Ireland this weekend, where I worked on it a bit more before handing it over. Meg says her favourite school subject at the moment is Art.

This painting was commissioned as a gift for a lover and owner of guinea pigs.

The language of Guinish and its translation on the painting come from a story about said guinea pig written by Rob Clucas-Tomlinson. So this could be considered a collaboration piece.

A New Triptych

I’ve started on a new painting which is actually three paintings in a triptych. At the moment its just a rough acrylic sketch and I am not sure yet how much detail will be developed; I am hoping to keep the rough and loose feeling in it and not to get too meticulous but it will become an oil painting. It is a mix of ideas based around a Cyprus landscape with inspiration from Blake. It is about Sad.

A Portrait and Prop

This painting was made to be a prop in a play in which a portrait artist was making a portrait of one of the characters.

I was given a photo to work from and made this quite quickly. The actor subsequently bought the painting as he quite liked it, so that was lucky.
